US officials doubt 'Israel', allies, ready to face Iranian retaliation
US officials share their concerns regarding "Israel's" preparedness to face another Iranian response or Hezbollah on the northern front.
The United States should continue pressuring "Israel" to be open to diplomacy when dealing with the war on the northern front with Lebanon, according to the Financial Times.
The newspaper noted that it is difficult to picture how a war with Hezbollah could improve "Israel's" situation given that the Resistance movement possesses over 100,000 rockets in its arsenal, which are "capable of reaching Israeli population centers and inflicting severe damage on its already weak economy."
At the same time, "history shows that the Israeli occupation of Lebanon is unlikely to yield positive results," the Financial Times said, indicating that the occupation should instead seek to "enable the residents of the north to return to their homes."
US rushes to 'Israel's' protection
On the other hand, the New York Times revealed that the US is preparing to send more fighter jets to the Middle East amid the escalating conflict in the region.
The newspaper, citing anonymous American officials, reported that the United States was taking "necessary measures" to increase the combat readiness of its forces in the Middle East.
The officials also added that they are aiming to "fine-tune the American response to send the appropriate types of aircraft as quickly as possible to help defend Israel, without appearing to escalate the conflict."
The NYT further noted that final approvals in this regard will come from the Pentagon, without specifying the number or type of American aircraft to be deployed.
In this context, officials told the newspaper that "it is unclear whether Israel and its allies will have enough time to prepare for any new round of major Iranian attacks."
Iran seeks revenge for its comrades' blood
This comes after Iran vowed to inflict its "severest punishment" in retribution for martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh's blood, after he was assassinated while in Tehran.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, stressed that it was Iran's duty because he was martyred on our soil," adding that Haniyeh's assassination, who was a guest in Iran, "also set the ground for [the enemy's] harsh punishment upon itself."
Moreover, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, said "Israel's" recent war crimes in the region evoked wrath among Resistance fighters to seek revenge against the occupation.
The statement by the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC)was made during a commemoration of Milad Bidi, an Iranian military advisor martyred in Lebanon during an Israeli assassination operation targeting a senior Hezbollah commander.
