US Senators roast Biden, say WH would serve Scholz 'Egyptian tacos'
US President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi as the leader of Mexico, sparking jokes from US lawmakers about his memory lapse.
US President Joe Biden accidentally referred to Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi as the leader of Mexico, eliciting jests from US lawmakers about his lapse in memory.
This comes after Thursday saw the release of a report by US Special Counsel Robert Hur investigating President Biden's mishandling of classified documents, which saw several instances of Biden forgetting important dates in his life and career. In response to the report, Biden delivered a speech defending his memory, but later on, he mistakenly referred to Sisi's nationality.
"Gonna build a wall with Gaza and make Mexico pay for it and boy are they gonna be confused," US Senator Rand Paul said on Friday in a statement via social media platform X.

On Friday, Biden announced plans to hold a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the White House. In response to Biden’s statement regarding the meeting, US Senator Mike Lee jokingly questioned whether the White House would serve Scholz "Egyptian tacos" for lunch.

Lee and other Republican members have urged officials to invoke the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution, which allows for the removal of a president who is unable to fulfill the duties of the role.
