The Biden administration announced a new military aid package to Ukraine worth $325 billion, which will this time include an enormous amount of artillery rounds and ammunition.
"This security assistance package includes more ammunition for US-provided HIMARS and artillery rounds, as well as anti-armor systems, small arms, logistics support vehicles, and maintenance support essential to strengthening Ukraine’s defenders on the battlefield," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
Concurrently, a spokesperson for the Statement Department detailed that the shipment also included artillery rounds, tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided (TOW) missiles, anti-tank mines, port and harbor security equipment, and more than nine million rounds of small-arms ammunition.
This comes shortly after UnHerd reported that Ukraine is facing a more difficult "uphill struggle than the Western narrative would have us believe," citing the recent Pentagon leaks, and saying that the Ukrainian army is facing massive shortages, especially in munition supplies.
Artillery ammunition is being used up by the nation's units at a breakneck rate, estimated at 7,700 shells every day, or about one shell every six seconds. This means that Kiev is outpacing Western production capacities and has forced Kiev to ration artillery usage on the battlefield.
Another document examined by the news website shows that the counteroffensive planned by Ukraine in Spring is projected to fall short of its supposed objectives.
