US President Donald Trump announced that Patriot missiles are already being shipped to Ukraine, with Germany supplying them and planning to replace its stockpile afterward.
"They are already being shipped. They are coming in from Germany and then replaced by Germany, and in all cases, the United States gets paid back in full," Trump said to reporters on Wednesday.
On July 14, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States would be sending Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine, noting that the European Union would bear the financial responsibility for this delivery. This follows his announcement the previous week about Washington's plans to provide additional weapons to Kiev as the conflict in Ukraine continues.
"I haven’t agreed on the number yet, but they’re going to have some because they do need protection, but the European Union is paying for it. We’re not paying anything for it, but we will send it." Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Washington.
On July 11, US President Donald Trump confirmed that NATO would cover the full cost of weapons Washington plans to send to Ukraine through the alliance, marking his first such decision since returning to office and reflecting a renewed US commitment to supporting Kiev as Russian warnings intensify.
This comes as the United States bolsters its support for Ukraine, amid Trump's growing frustration with Russia.
According to The Washington Post, US President Donald Trump announced new military aid for Kiev on July 14, which may potentially include long-range ATACMS missiles.
The report indicates that Washington may approve the deployment of 18 long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) currently in Ukraine's possession as part of the continuing US military aid package for Kiev.
