US to judge Netanyahu gov. as per policies, not personalities: Price
The US State Department Spokesperson says the US relationship with the Israeli occupation is "rock-solid", multifaceted, and based on interest.
US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price reiterated on Wednesday that President Joe Biden's administration will gauge the coming Israeli government "by the policies it pursues rather than individual personalities."
In a press briefing, Price stressed that the US "relationship with Israel is rock-solid; it is multifaceted; it is based, of course, on interest."
The US official's remarks came in response to a question regarding Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu's nomination of extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir as minister of national security and Bezalel Smotrich as minister of finance.
Price said the Biden administration expects the coming Israeli government "to continue to work with us to advance the shared values that have always been at the heart of our relationship."
Israeli media quoted the Israeli occupation's Minister of Public Security, Omer Barlev, as saying that in case he takes over the Ministry of National Security, Ben-Gvir's policies would lead with great probability to a third Palestinian Intifada.
Israeli Channel 7 website also cited Knesset member and former Israeli occupation Chief of Staff, Gadi Eisenkot, as saying that appointing Ben-Gvir and Smotrich as ministers is a gamble, adding that the latter is inexperienced and doesn't have the basic knowledge to deal with the enormous challenges the system faces.
