Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, seen serving wine from an illegal settlement as they host a Passover seder

US Vice President Kamala Harris served wine that was produced in an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.

In celebration of Passover Seder, she and her husband hosted a seder in their Washington residence, which included Jewish members of her staff.

Tonight, @VP and I were honored to celebrate Passover with our hardworking staff by holding a Seder at the Vice President’s Residence.

Whether you’re celebrating with your family, your work family, or the family you have chosen, we wish you all a Happy Passover! pic.twitter.com/g9qLOHqFUM

A reporter with Israeli Channel 12 pointed out that the wine on the table was made by the Psagot Winery, which is based in the occupied West Bank.

Pro-Palestine groups heavily criticized the presence of this wine at the table, saying that its use shows "contempt for Palestinians", and that the US policy toward Israeli settlements is nothing more than "lip service".

It’s not surprising that @VP Kamala Harris is serving Israeli settlement wine at her Seder dinner.

It’s also not surprising that the UN duty free shop in Jerusalem sells Israeli settlement wine.

The policy that Israeli settlements are illegal is lip service across the board. https://t.co/LyP03nYYrE

The Israeli settlement of Psagot was established in 1981 on the land of the Palestinian town of al-Bireh, just outside the city of Ramallah. The hill where the settlement is built is the site of dozens of acres of privately-owned Palestinian land.

"Israel" has occupied the West Bank since the 1967 war, has full administrative control over most of its territory, and conducts raids there where Palestinians are routinely arrested or killed.

Israeli settlements are in breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which outlaws the transfer of a civilian population into militarily occupied areas.
