USS Thomas Hudner shoots down drone from Yemen meant for the destroyer
The drone was shot down by USS Thomas Hudner, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
USS Thomas Hudner, a US destroyer ship, was able to shoot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) while transiting through the Red Sea earlier in the day, a US Department of Defense spokesperson told Sputnik in a statement on Wednesday.
“We’re aware of an incident involving the USS Thomas Hudner successfully defending itself against a UAV while transiting through the Red Sea. We do not have additional details to provide at this time,” the statement said.
According to media reports, the drone was allegedly launched from the territory of Yemen.
Meanwhile, commenting on the same incident, two US officials told Reuters that a US Navy warship shot down a drone from Yemen earlier today in the Red Sea.
As the US increases its support for the Israeli aggression on Gaza, Washington has been on the receiving end of resistance operations on its bases and vessels in the region.

On the operations of missiles and drones launched from Yemen toward "Israel" in support of the Palestinian Resistance in its fight against the occupation, Ansar Allah leader Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said on Tuesday, "An operation by our missile force and drones was carried out yesterday, Monday, against the Zionist enemy."
He pointed out that the Israeli occupation "was too cowardly to raise Israeli flags on its vessels in the Red Sea," and instead "tends to camouflage them, which proves that our decision to target Israel was right and efficient."
Moreover, the leader stressed that "had the Yemeni people had a land outlet leading to Palestine, our people would have headed there with hundreds of thousands of freedom fighters ready for direct confrontations with the Zionist enemy."
Yemen has launched several attacks against the Israeli occupation, with the first attack being intercepted by the US and Saudi Arabia, and raising the concerns of some neighboring Arab states, as others made their way to occupied Palestine, striking Israeli military targets.

Hezbollah anti-ship missiles increase threats to US warships: Reuters
Last week, Sayyed Nasrallah warned Washington that his party has the necessary preparations to confront the US vessels deployed in the region since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza. Sources familiar with the party's arsenal clarified that he was referring to Hezbolla's anti-ship missile capabilities.
During his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the US warships in the Mediterranean "do not scare us, and will not scare us," adding, "We have prepared for the fleets with which you threaten us."
Washington has stated that its deployment of naval forces in the Mediterranean, including two aircraft carriers and their support ships, is aimed at deterring "Iran to prevent the spread of conflicts involving groups it supports, such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad". But Hezbollah perceives the presence of US warships as a direct threat.
Earlier, two US aircraft carrier strike groups, recently deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean, carried out a joint exercise simulating the possibility of being targeted by ballistic missiles and other aerial projectiles.
