Vienna talks moving onward: EU official
A European official participating in the Vienna talks expresses relief over the positive turn the negotiations are taking.
As the eighth round of the Vienna talks between Iran and the P4+1 over Tehran's nuclear program proceeds in the Austrian capital, reports suggest that the delegations have neared reaching a final agreement.
The negotiations are moving onward, a European delegate told IRNA on the condition of anonymity. "No important progress is being made, but the trend of the talks is positive, and the parties to the talks are making their best efforts to reach a final agreement," the official added.
Chief Chinese delegate Wang Qun said Thursday, following the negotiation session, that the talks were moving onward.
Russian delegate Mikhail Ulyanov saw there was a possibility of reaching a final agreement before February to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. He assured that all parties admit that the talks are moving onward.
Iran's chief negotiator said Wednesday that ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna were focused on the removal of US sanctions on the Islamic Republic and reflecting an onward and positive trend, IRNA reported.
He noted that efforts were underway to achieve a result while highlighting that the removal of US sanctions was key to arriving at an agreement in the Austrian capital.
The Vienna talks between major powers and Iran aim to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement and return the United States to it following Washington's unilateral withdrawal in 2018 under then-President Donald Trump, who accompanied his decision with the imposition of harsh sanctions on Tehran.
