"Israel's" large-scale attack on Iran, months in the making, was in coordination with the US despite public denials.

"Israel's" massive attack against Iran was the culmination of eight months of clandestine planning, Axios reported on Friday. The attack included targeted airstrikes on nuclear facilities, military sites, and residential buildings, as well as coordinated assassinations of senior Iranian military officials and scientists.
While the Trump administration publicly tried to distance itself from the operation, claiming no military involvement, conflicting reports suggest otherwise. Israeli officials told Axios that Washington provided a covert green light, with both sides orchestrating public denials to maintain strategic ambiguity.
Officials argued that Trump’s repeated public opposition to a strike was part of a ruse designed to lull Tehran into complacency, but in reality, coordination with Washington was extensive.
Two Israeli officials told Axios that Trump and his aides were only pretending to oppose an Israeli attack in public and didn't express opposition in private. "We had a clear U.S. green light," one claimed.
According to Axios, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged that the operation was essential to eliminating "existential threats posed by Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs."
Iran launches hundreds of drones toward 'Israel'
Iranian media reported on Friday that hundreds of Shahed drones were launched toward the occupied territories in a coordinated retaliatory attack aimed at engaging and overwhelming Israeli air defense systems.
The move comes in response to recent Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.
The Israeli army spokesperson confirmed, "In recent hours, Iran has launched more than 100 drones toward Israel, and all air defense systems are working to confront them."
Israeli media further claimed that drones were launched not only from Iran but also from Iraq, with over 200 drones identified in total. Multiple interceptions were reportedly taking place in the Syrian airspace.
The Israeli occupation launched a major attack on Iran in the early hours of Friday, targeting residential buildings, nuclear facilities, and military infrastructure across Iran.
The Israeli occupation military confirmed the launch of a broad aerial offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear program, carrying out a "precise, preemptive strike" in Iran, "with the goal of damaging Iran’s nuclear program."
