Washington to hold the Yemeni forces 'accountable'
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan condemns the Yemeni attack on Abu Dhabi and pledges to "hold the Houthis accountable."
United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan issued a statement on Monday on the recent attack on the United Arab Emirates, vowing to hold the Yemeni Armed Forces accountable for the strike.
“The United States strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, which killed three innocent civilians,” Sullivan said.
The Yemeni forces conducted an operation through the use of drones and missiles.
Yahya Saree, the Spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said the strike was part of a mission that targeted a number of “sensitive and important” areas within the UAE, Reuters reported.
“The Houthis have claimed responsibility for this attack, and we will work with the UAE and international partners to hold them accountable,” Sullivan promised.

“Our commitment to the security of the UAE is unwavering and we stand beside our Emirati partners against all threats to their territory,” he added.
Many others condemned the strike in response to the attack on the UAE, including the foreign ministries of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which issued statements of solidarity with their Gulf neighbor.
France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the strike poses a threat to "regional stability", AFP reported.
The Spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, explained in a statement Monday evening, the details regarding the qualitative operation that targeted the Emirati depth today.
"We carried out a qualitative military operation, Operation Yemen Hurricane, in response to the escalation of aggression against the country," Saree said in a statement.
The Yemeni Armed forces had announced earlier today that they carried out a qualitative operation in the UAE, noting that more details will be revealed later after it had previously revealed in 2019 its intention to target the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in addition to dozens of other targets in the Emirates.
The Yemeni Spokesperson's words came after the police forces in Abu Dhabi announced the death of a Pakistani citizen and two people of Indian nationality, as well as the injury of six others, as a result of the explosion and fires in the capital today, on Monday.
Moreover, a reliable Yemeni source said that the military operation in the heart of the UAE capital Abu Dhabi "is still ongoing," explaining that "the fires are burning."
