Israeli media reported on Saturday that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) were taken aback by the size and depth of the resistance's infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

Military affairs analyst at Yedioth Ahronoth Yossi Yehoshua said he expects the fighting in Gaza to continue for a long period due to the size and depth of the tunnels.

"A senior officer told me, 'We need all the mines in the world to dismantle all the underground infrastructure of Hamas,'" he added.

A few days ago, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth confirmed that the path to a decisive outcome in Gaza is "long" and that there is a growing consensus within the IOF that the war will likely continue for several months, noting that any announcement of the imminent destruction of the Palestinian resistance is detached from reality.

Amid intensified fighting between the resistance and the IOF, Gaza is transforming into a complex battlefield, with "Israel" deploying drones and all sorts of battle technologies.

Meanwhile, the resistance relies on "some of the oldest tactics: deception, surprise, and ambush," as noted by The Washington Post.

It acknowledges that the Palestinian Resistance is engaging in confrontations both above and below ground. Fighters maneuver between buildings, attempting to ambush Israeli forces.

That said, the newspaper quoted Israeli analysts as saying that the Israeli forces are struggling to achieve conflicting goals: “finding and killing Hamas fighters while also trying to rescue prisoners.”

'Too late; mission accomplished'

The military wing of the Hamas Resistance movement, al-Qassam Brigades, published Monday a video in response to a "discovery" made by the Israeli occupation forces, which comprised of the latter finding a tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip.

Hamas explained that the tunnel was dug up solely for the purpose of carrying out Operation al-Aqas Flood, telling the Israeli occupation forces that they were too little too late: "You arrive late... mission had already been completed," the video said in Arabic, Hebrew, and English.

The IOF had on Sunday published footage showing Israeli security minister Yoav Gallant touring the tunnel and taking pictures at its entry in an apparent bid to celebrate a "military accomplishment" made by the Israeli occupation forces more than 70 days into the aggression on Gaza and some 50 days of their invasion of the blockaded strip.

The Israeli occupation has set the discovery of the Resistance's tunnel network as one of the key objectives of the aggression on Gaza.
