The leaderships of the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, following a meeting in southern Lebanon, reaffirmed their firm opposition to the continued Israeli occupation of any part of Lebanese land in the south.
In a joint statement, the two leaderships denounced the ongoing Zionist violations of Lebanese airspace and territory, urging the sponsors of the ceasefire agreement to compel the enemy to comply with the provisions of Resolution 1701.
They emphasized that rebuilding the destruction caused by Israeli aggression should be a top priority for the new government.
The two leaderships honored the martyrs, the people of the border villages, and all Lebanese who resisted the enemy’s aggression with unwavering determination, paying the highest and noblest sacrifices to reclaim every inch of national land.
Israeli military to continue the occupation
This comes after the Israeli military announced that Israeli occupation forces will remain stationed at five "strategic points" inside Lebanese territory beyond Tuesday’s deadline for troop withdrawal.
"Based on the current situation, we will leave small amounts of troops deployed temporarily in five strategic points along the border in Lebanon so we can continue to defend our residents and to make sure there's no immediate threat," Israeli military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani told journalists on Monday.
The announcement comes as tensions remain high along the border as despite international calls for de-escalation, the Israeli military stance signals an intention to maintain a foothold in Lebanese territory.
Despite the Israeli announcement, its forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement by maintaining their aggression against southern Lebanon, opening fire on civilians and violating Lebanese airspace.
The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday that its units are continuing their deployment across all southern border towns, while the Israeli occupation persists "in shirking its commitments and in violating Lebanese sovereignty through ongoing attacks on the security of Lebanon and its citizens."
In a statement, the military confirmed that Israeli forces remain stationed at several border points. It said the army's deployment along the border is being carried out in coordination with the Quintet Committee overseeing the ceasefire agreement and UNIFIL following the Israeli withdrawal.
