The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that over 250 assaults against medical facilities, including hospitals, ambulances, and patients, have occurred in Gaza and the West Bank since October 7. Tedros Ghebreyesus, the director general, stated on Friday.
During a UN Security Council meeting, Ghebreyesus announced that “Since October 7, WHO has verified more than 250 attacks on healthcare in Gaza and the West Bank, in addition to 25 attacks on healthcare in Israel. Hospitals, clinics, patients, ambulances…"
According to Ghebreyesus, the Gaza Strip's 36 hospitals and two-thirds of its basic health care clinics are completely closed as a result of Israeli bombardment.
Ghebreyesus elaborated that four hospitals in Gaza with about 430 beds have been put out of operation in the last 48 hours alone.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced on Friday that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) had started firing on the intensive care unit at the Al-Quds hospital in the Gaza Strip.
The PRCS reported earlier in the day that strikes hit close to the Al-Quds hospital and that several persons were badly wounded as a result.
On its X page, the PRCS posted that "Israeli Occupation forces opened fire on the intensive care unit at Al-Quds hospital."
The Palestinian Red Crescent said that the situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and we do not have water or food to provide to patients or displaced people in Al-Quds Hospital.
Earlier, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that IOF tanks have besieged the Al-Rantisi and Al-Nasr Hospitals for Children, both of which are located within one residential bloc, facing the al-Shati Camp in the Gaza Strip.
During the past hours, Al-Rantisi Children's Hospital and Al-Nasr Children's Hospital were both put out of service, causing direct harm to hundreds of thousands of citizens, including tens of thousands of children, according to the government media office, which confirmed that more than 3,000 children will be deprived of oncology treatment and dialysis services.
