Xi: Countries of the world are all on same ship with common destiny
Chinese President Xi Jinping says it is unacceptable to theoretically throw any country overboard from humanity's common ship.
In a video message for the Asian Economic Forum, the Chinese President stated that all countries in the world are on the same ship and share the same destiny.
The Forum is informally referred to as "Eastern Davos" and is taking place at Boao on the Chinese island of Hainan. It will go on until April 22, and China Central TV quoted Jinping describing that if countries of the world "want to cross the furious waves and continue their way to a brighter future, they must act in the same direction. It is unacceptable to try to throw anyone into the sea."
The Chinese President also criticized double standards in policies and considered dialogue and consultation necessary in order to find peaceful resolutions to disputes.
Representatives from government, industry, academia, and the media from many nations are anticipated to meet to debate Asia's and the world's post-COVID pandemic development strategy.
According to Jinping, the Cold War mindset, hegemonic ideologies, and inter-bloc conflict are endangering global peace and security.
"The facts have once again proved that the Cold War mentality is only undermining the foundations of the global peace, hegemonism and the policy of brutal force are only endangering the global peace, and the inter-bloc confrontation is only exacerbating security challenges of the 21st century," Xi stated during the forum.
