YAF reshuffles its command after martyrdom of Major General al-Ghamari
Major General Youssef Hassan al-Madani has been named Chief of the General Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces following the martyrdom of his predecessor, Major General Mohammad Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, who succumbed to wounds sustained in an Israeli aggression on the country.
Al-Madani, a seasoned commander with years of frontline experience, has long played a central role in overseeing operations and shaping the group’s military strategies. His appointment signals a continuation of Yemen’s existing military posture, particularly regarding regional issues and the ongoing situation in Gaza.
The Yemeni Armed Forces are seen as key actors in the regional Axis of Resistance, with their role in the war on Gaza described as one of active solidarity. During the recent Israeli war on Gaza, Ansar Allah launched multiple operations targeting Israeli-linked commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which disrupted international maritime traffic and drew global attention.
Additionally, the YAF regularly launched operations against "Israel", using both advanced drones and ballistic missiles to attack key targets in the occupied Palestinian territory, including the Ben Gurion International Airport, which became a frequent target, and other significant military and economic facilities.
