Al-Majd Brigade Commander of President Hadi's forces, Brigadier General Hilal al-Khalidi, was killed with a number of his soldiers in battles with the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees on the outskirts between the city of Marib and the Juba District, south of Marib Governorate.
Al-Khalidi was stationed with his forces, the border guard in the al-Ajashir border area, in al-Jawf on the border with Najran, Saudi Arabia. They were brought in as part of the military reinforcements the Saudi-led coalition forces sent to Marib, which is rich in oil and gas, to confront the Yemeni Army and Popular Committee in an attempt to prevent them from advancing toward the city of Marib in northeastern Yemen.
Violent battles are taking place between the forces of the Sanaa government, on the one hand, and the forces of President Hadi and the al-Islah party backed by Saudi-led coalition warplanes in the strategic Usaylan District, west of Shabwa Governorate, on the other. This comes two days after Hadi forces announced the launch of a military operation in an attempt to regain control of the District.
A few hours earlier, a field source confirmed to Al Mayadeen that the Army and Popular Committees had thwarted an attempt by the forces of Hadi and the coalition to advance toward the Mujabjab area in the Usaylan Bayhan District of Shabwa, eastern Yemen.
The field source reported deaths and injuries among the forces of Hadi and the coalition when their advance toward Bayhan Shabwa, backed by airstrikes, was being repelled. The source also reported that 4 military vehicles of the said forces were destroyed during the confrontations.
In addition, the Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched 4 raids on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, today, Friday, two raids, on the al-Qiran area in the Sanhan District, and two other raids on Jabal al-Nimreen in the Bani Matar District in the southern and western countryside of the capital.
Earlier today, the Saudi-led coalition warplanes targeted Sanaa International Airport and its premises once again, claiming that it was used for military purposes, despite the repeated denial and refutation of the Sanaa government.
