The UAV is a Karayel drone that was downed in the midst of performing a hostile operation in the airspace of Hayran District, in violation of the armistice.

On Sunday the Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced the downing of an armed Turkish-made Karayel spy drone belonging to the Saudi Air Force, "while it was violating the armistice and carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of the Hiran region in Hajjah Governorate."

Saree pointed out on his Twitter account that "the operation was carried out using a locally made surface-to-air missile that has not been disclosed yet," stressing that the armed forces are present and ready to respond to "any breach or aggression" by the Saudi coalition forces.

Saree stressed that "such attacks confirm the lack of commitment and seriousness of the forces of aggression to the armistice and the establishment of the peace process."

On May 7, the Brigadier General spoke about how the Yemeni people are living "defining moments in history," during which "the enemy can exhibit its commitment to the truce or its renegation, as usual."

During his visit to soldiers and military leaders on the Juba and Balaq fronts in the vicinity of the city of Marib, Saree stated that "the coalition of aggression began to renounce the implementation of the truce in the required form and showed its true face characterized by evasiveness, cunning, deception, and criminality."

The top military figure warned the coalition against the repercussions of its continuous violations and "not dealing with the armistice responsibly."

It is noteworthy that the Saudi coalition claimed that it suspended its operations in Yemen, but observers recorded repeated violations of the coalition in different Yemeni governorates.

Stand with Yemen

For the past seven years, Yemen has been enduring an aggression by the Saudi-led coalition that butchers civilians on a daily basis, destroys civilian infrastructure and residential areas, and starves innocent Yemenis - all amid international silence and complicity. It is time for this war to end… Yemen can’t wait any longer…
