The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) targeted United States Navy vessels, including a supply ship, on Saturday, the spokesperson for the YAF, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced.
Saree said that multiple branches of the Yemeni military engaged US Carrier Strike Group 8, including the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, for several hours. The Rocket Force, the Unmanned Air Force, and the Navy fired multiple cruise missiles and one-way attack drones at the US Navy vessels in the Red Sea.
The spokesperson said that the operation hindered a US assault on Yemen, amid a three-week-long aggression on the country.
Saree also revealed that the Yemeni Navy fired an anti-ship ballistic missile at a supply ship dedicated to Carrier Strike Group 8.
He also stressed that the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue to defend the country against American aggression and support the Palestinian people, amid the continued Israeli genocidal war.
"Yemen, as a leadership, a people, and an army, is valiantly fighting the battle of victory for the oppressed Palestinian people in fulfillment of their religious, moral and humanitarian duties, and that the armed forces, with the help of God Almighty, continue to carry out their support and defensive operations until the end of the aggression on Gaza and the lifting of the blockade," Saree concluded.
Meanwhile, the US continues to launch air raids over Yemeni governorates, seeking to end Yemeni support for Palestine. Although US President Donald Trump has described Ansar Allah as “decimated” by what the Pentagon has dubbed Operation Rough Rider, launched on March 15, military and intelligence officials speaking to Congress and allies in private briefings admit that most of the Yemenis' vast underground arsenal of missiles and drones remains intact.
CNN revealed that the military offensive against Sanaa has cost the US nearly $1 billion in less than three weeks, despite the limited impact the strikes have had on Yemeni capabilities. In the past few days, the YAF has downed three US-operated unmanned aerial vehicles over Yemeni airspace, including two MQ-9 Reaper drones. This coincides with near-daily counterattacks against the strike group in the northern Red Sea and long-range attacks against Israeli targets.
