Gymnast Simone Biles Withdraws from Tokyo Olympics
Olympic athlete Simone Biles pulls out from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to "injury."
After an attempt on the vault that scored low, Simone Biles pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics for the day. However, there is no word about whether she will be competing Thursday.
Her withdrawal was attributed to an "injury"; not much information was given about what the injury is, and to what extent it may have impaired her performance.
"Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue," USA Gymnastics said in a statement. "She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions."
However, according to NBC commentators, the injury is mental, rather than physical.

“It is not injury related” and apparently her coach said “it’s a mental issue that Simone is having,” per NBC commentators just now. #TokyoOlympics pic.twitter.com/WdBgVBnF5m
After Biles won four gold medals and a bronze in the 2016 Summer Olympics, the women's gymnastics today is left to the Russians, who have been in fierce competition for the third gold medal in a row.
Biles continued to cheer and encourage her teammates as she stood by.
