AC Milan’s Alessandro Florenzi to undergo knee surgery
Milan is now just one point ahead of Napoli and four points ahead of reigning champions Inter Milan, who have a game in hand.
The season of Alessandro Florenzi is in jeopardy after AC Milan announced, on Tuesday, that the Italy full-back would undergo knee surgery.
The Serie A leaders announced in a statement that Florenzi would undergo surgery in Rome, on Wednesday, to repair damage to a meniscus in his left knee sustained during his team's goalless draw with Bologna on Monday night.
Milan is now just one point ahead of Napoli and four points ahead of reigning champions Inter Milan, who have a game in hand.
Florenzi, 31, joined Milan on loan from his hometown club Roma in August and has since played 27 games in all competitions for the seven-time European champions, scoring once.
Florenzi's knee surgery on Wednesday will be his second of the season, following an almost identical operation in October that kept him out for a month.
He has 47 appearances for his country and was a member of the squad that won Euro 2020 last summer.
