Klopp reveals Mane, Salah's reason for remaining fit
Why did Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah remain fit after their hectic African international duty in Cameroon?
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp hailed Tuesday his players Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane after both reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final, with the latter winning the title with Senegal's national team.
At a press conference, Klopp revealed the duo's reason for remaining in fit conditions, despite quickly returning to training with Liverpool after their hectic African international duty in Cameroon, in which Senegal beat Egypt on penalties.
The German coach explained that both players don't drink alcohol.
"Both boys don’t drink alcohol, so that major problem you have if you celebrate a big thing, that kills or extends the recovery time, isn’t there," Klopp indicated
"They don’t drink, so they were fit the day after the game. Both are a force of nature, and hopefully they stay like that forever!" he added.
It is noteworthy that both Salah and Mane are Muslim and abstain from consuming alcohol as part of their faith.
When Liverpool won the English Premier League title in 2020, team Captain Jordan Henderson revealed that the celebratory champagne used during the trophy presentation was non-alcoholic, out of respect to both players' faith.
