Lionel Messi tests positive for Covid, PSG confirm
PSG say that Messi and three other players have contracted the virus.
Paris Saint-Germain announced on Sunday that football star Lionel Messi has tested positive for COVID-19 and has entered self-isolation.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was one of four PSG players who tested positive for the virus before a French Cup match against Vannes.
Messi has only scored one goal in 11 league appearances for PSG, but he has five goals in the Champions League.
He will miss Monday's cup match and is likely to miss PSG's first Ligue 1 match since the winter break, against Lyon next Sunday.
The other players to test positive are full-back Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico and teenage midfielder Nathan Bitumazala.
"They are currently respecting isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocols," PSG stated.
It is worth mentioning that the number of COVID cases in France has reached 200,000 a day this week.
