Liverpool sign WC winner Mac Allister for a reported £55 million
Liverpool announce the singing of Brighton player Alexis Mac Allister for an undisclosed fee as they look to strengthen their midfield for the 2023-2024 season.
Liverpool bolster their midfield options after announcing the awaited signing of the Argentine World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister, for a reported fee of £55 million ($69 million), according to AFP.
The former Brighton player has been integral for both club and country putting out impressive performances in 6 games to boost Argentina's midfield in their Qatar FIFA World Cup campaign. The 24-year-old also scored 10 goals for Brighton in the Premier League as he led his team to an exceptional 6th-spot finish ensuring Europa League football for the Roberto Di Zerbi side, ahead of struggling Tottenham and Chelsea.
Mac Allister is expected to reignite Liverpool's midfield which has been unfit and lackluster in the 2022-2023 campaign, only finishing one place ahead of Brighton falling from their 2nd place finish in the previous season.
"It feels amazing," said Mac Allister. "It's a dream come true. It's amazing to be here and I can't wait to get started.
"I wanted to be in from the first day of pre-season, so it's good that everything is done. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates."
"It was a fantastic year for me — World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton — but now it's time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day."

After the departure of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain, and James Milner, Liverpool will not settle for just one singing as their new Sporting Director Jorg Schmadtke looks to add players such as Manu Koné, the 22-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder, and Khéphren Thuram. As well as reports suggesting the possibility of England star Jude Bellingham joining the Reds.
