Mbappe accuses president of French federation of ignoring racist abuse
French international football star Kylian Mbappe accuses the president of the French Football Federation of ignoring racist abuse against him.
France's international football star, Kylian Mbappe, accused the president of the French Football Federation of ignoring all the racist abuse the footballer has had to endure after he missed the penalty against Switzerland at Euro 2020.
The decisive kick played by the Paris Saint-Germain footballer was saved, resulting in France exiting the tournament.
Mbappe, 23, was demonized on social media by angry fans, making him considering quitting the French national team as a result.
French Football Federation (FFF) President Noel Le Graet spoke in an interview on Sunday regarding the lack of support Mbappe felt after PSG's elimination from the Euro, saying "We saw each other for five minutes in my office," Le Graet said, adding the striker "no longer wanted to play in the French team - which he obviously did not think".
Mbappe tweeted in response: "Yes finally I explained to him (Le Graet) above all that it was in relation to racism, and NOT to the penalty".
"But he considered that there had been no racism..."
Oui enfin je lui ai surtout bien expliqué que c’était par rapport au racisme et NON au penalty.

Mais lui considérait qu’il n’y avait pas eu de racisme… https://t.co/wZ1nQfb4l4
Le Graet had declared in September 2021 that racism in football "does not exist or hardly exists."
FIFA published a study pointing to the increase in insults against footballers on social media, saying that 38% of them were racist in nature.
