Trump says there is 'real starvation stuff' in Gaza
US President Donald Trump said he would work with European allies to “set up food centers” in Gaza, contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that there is “no starvation” in the besieged Strip. “Based on television, … those children look very hungry,” Trump said. “But we’re giving a lot of money and a lot of food, and other nations are now stepping up.” Trump also acknowledged for the first time that what is happening in Gaza amounts to “real starvation.” He claimed that “it’s not very hard” to get food into Gaza, despite the ongoing Israeli blockade that began in March, and repeated incidents in which Israeli occupation forces have deliberately killed Palestinians gathering near so-called US-Israeli-run “aid zones.”
