Iraq deploys 170,000 officers and personnel ahead of November 11 parliamentary election

Reporting from Iraq, Al Mayadeen English’s correspondent, Siraj Ghassani, says the Iraqi Ministry of Interior has announced the deployment of around 170,000 officers and personnel to secure polling stations during the November 11 parliamentary elections. According to Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, head of the Ministry’s Relations and Media Department, the security plan covers more than 7,000 general voting stations and nearly 600 special voting sites nationwide. With less than ten days remaining until the decisive vote, more than 21 million Iraqis are set to cast their ballots across 18 electoral districts.
