Bus crash in Egypt leaves 22 dead, 33 injured
A horrendous car crash in southern Egypt near the province of Minya leaves 22 people dead and 33 injured.
At least 22 people died and 33 were injured as a result of a public transport vehicle colliding with a truck on the Eastern Desert Road in Mallawi Center of Minya Governorate, southern Egypt.
The number of casualties is expected to rise due to the heavy impact of the crash.
The bus carried 45 passengers who were on their way to Cairo. Authorities said that the truck was changing tires on the roadside when the bus collided with it. Ambulances rushed to the scene to transfer the injured to hospitals in Minya.
Thousands are killed every year in Egypt, which has a poor transportation safety record, due to speeding, bad conditions on the roads, and poor enforcement of traffic laws.
In the year 2020, about 7000 people were killed by road accidents in Egypt.
