The gun violence in Washington, DC has once again drawn attention to public safety during large community gatherings. Moreover, Friday's shooting adds to the growing concern surrounding Washington, DC, shootings, especially those occurring near educational institutions.

This shooting comes after four people were killed and at least 12 others were injured in a shooting that occurred on October 11 in Leland, Mississippi, officials said.

Leland Mayor John Lee informed CBS News that the shooting occurred around midnight, resulting in four of the injured being airlifted to local hospitals, though there was no immediate information on their condition.

According to Lee, the shooting occurred on a main street where people had gathered for Leland High School's homecoming game, which, according to the school district's website, was scheduled against Charleston High School.
