'Israel' aims to sow discord: Leader of Druze community in Syria
Sheikh Yusuf Jarbou, the leader of the Druze community in Syria, spoke with Al Mayadeen Net and strongly condemned "Israel’s" efforts to destabilize the region and create division.
In the aftermath of an Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile striking a playground in Majdal Shams —a Druze-majority town in Syria— resulting in the killing of at least 12 civilians, Al Mayadeen Net interviewed Sheikh Yusuf Jarbou, the Sheikh of the Druze community in Syria.
Jarbou delivered a strong condemnation of ongoing Israeli efforts to sow division and instability in the region.
He expressed unwavering confidence in the resilience and resolve of the Druze community in Majdal Shams, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining their values and principles.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Jarbou affirmed that the Druze community remains a vital pillar of Arab identity and Resistance, standing firm against attempts to create discord and implement divisive agendas.
In his interview for Al Mayadeen Net, he called on his community to exercise extreme caution regarding the threats posed by what he described as the enemy's plots. He emphasized the importance of vigilance in the face of these challenges.
Sheikh Jarbou denounces Netanyahu as a criminal
Sheikh Yusuf Jarbou further expressed that it is no surprise for the residents of Majdal Shams to label Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a criminal.
The prominent figure praised the resilience of the residents in the occupied Golan Heights and Majdal Shams, commending their determined Resistance against what he described as terrorist groups that are backed by the Israeli occupation. He emphasized the community’s steadfast commitment to confronting these threats and defending their territory.
It is worth noting that People in the occupied Syrian Golan prevented, on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from entering Majdal Shams, calling him a fascist and criminal. In a similar incident, the residents kicked out Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Economy Nir Barakat, Environment Minister Idit Silman, and Energy Minister Eli Cohen from the martyrs' funeral.
What happened in Majdal Shams
An Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile struck a playground in the town, which is made up entirely of Druze Syrians, killing at least 12 civilians, including children, and wounding at least a dozen others on Friday.
"Israel" was quick to pin the blame on Hezbollah and claimed that the Lebanese group targeted the town with an "Iranian rocket".
However, the people of the occupied Syrian Golan have always been aware of Tel Aviv's long-term plot for the 'Israelization' of their community.
Following the Golan incident, Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that "Israel will not let this murderous attack go unanswered and Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for it, a price it has not paid before," according to a statement from his office.
Hezbollah denied Saturday that it targeted Majdal Shams. In a statement, the Lebanese Resistance group said it "categorically denies the allegations reported by certain enemy media and various media platforms concerning the targeting of Majdal Shams."
"The Islamic Resistance has no connection to this incident," it affirmed.
