'Israel' extends Khalida Jarrar's detention in solitary confinement
An Israeli court has ruled to extend Khalida Jarrar's administrative detention for six months, including an additional month in solitary confinement.
The Israeli occupation renewed activist Khalida Jarrar's solitary confinement sentence for an additional month in the Ramleh prison, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
The Prisoners Media Office also announced on its Telegram channel that an Israeli court extended Jarrar's administrative detention for six additional months.
The renewal reportedly came less than 24 hours after she was sentenced to an additional month in solitary confinement, despite the difficult conditions she is facing.
In November, the Hanzala Center for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners reported that Khalida Jarrar had endured 93 days of harsh solitary confinement.
The center described Jarrar's ongoing imprisonment as part of a broader campaign of repression and abuse, marking her treatment as a clear example of "Israel's slow death" policy against Palestinian political prisoners. Despite the difficult conditions, Jarrar remains steadfast and resolute in her resistance, as per the center.
It has also condemned the harsh conditions faced by Jarrar, revealing that the female Palestinian activist is confined in an overcrowded, poorly ventilated cell, deprived of basic necessities such as water and light. The facility, as per the center, is described as resembling a "grave", where Jarrar is forced to lie next to the door in order to access the limited oxygen available.
Who is Khalida Jarrar?
On December 26, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces carried out a widespread detention campaign across the West Bank, detaining journalist Hamad Taqatqa and leading figure of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Khalida Jarrar.
Jarrar is the most prominent leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the second-largest faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and was, in the past, elected as a member of the former Palestinian Legislative Council.
"Israel" released Khalida Jarrar in September 2021, after two years of detention, and charged her with belonging to the liberation movement, the PFLP, which has been dubbed a "terrorist organization" by the Israeli occupation.
