'Israel' on its toes fearing Iran retaliation, shuts down 28 legations
As panic and fear loom over "Israel" following its attack on Iran's consulate in Syria, the occupation has shut down and evacuated 28 of its legations worldwide.
"Israel's" fear of an Iranian response to the targeting of Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria, and the martyrdom of seven Iranian advisors, has been exponentially growing, Israeli media reported.
The Israeli occupation is reportedly on maximum alert amid an aggravated state of fear of an attack from Iran or the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah particularly on International al-Quds Day, according to Israeli media.
As a result, the occupation has shut down 28 of its legations worldwide.
Earlier, seven Israeli embassies, including those in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Turkey, were evacuated for the same reason, the Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth news website reported on Thursday.
According to the military affairs commentator for the Israeli KAN channel, Itay Blumental, some Israeli representatives abroad have been relocated to alternative locations and have also been asked not to attend public events at the current stage.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stressed Tehran's right to respond to the aggression, underlined that necessary action should be taken against the aggressor, and said that "Tehran will decide on the type of response and punishment."
Later, the Iranian Mission to the United Nations affirmed that Iran has the right to take action as a response to the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
"The aggressor Zionist regime bears full responsibility for its consequences and the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right under international law and the United Nations Charter to take a decisive response to such reprehensible acts," the statement said.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah also vowed that "certainly, this crime will not pass without the enemy receiving punishment and revenge."
'Israel' crumbling internally
In this context, Yedioth Ahronoth stated that Iran is winning the psychological war against "Israel" despite not sending a single drone in response to the Israeli attack on its consulate in Syria.
It revealed, in a report by its military affairs analyst, Yossi Yehoshua, that an atmosphere of panic prevails as Israelis express confusion as to whether they should storm food networks or ATMs first. Settlers have also spiked generator purchases amid concerns of lengthy power outages as the battles drag on and escalate.
The Israeli news outlet reported heightened calls for the opening of shelters in anticipation of an Iranian response, saying Iran would not dismiss "Israel's" attack on its consulate.
The Israeli settlers' fear stems from profound distrust in "Israel's" Intelligence, specifically after the military failed to intercept the Palestinian Resistance's operation on October 7, dubbing it the worst crisis in the Israeli occupation forces' history.
Amid the commotion, the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate's (Aman) Research Division, Brigadier General Amit Saar, has formally handed in his resignation letter, citing personal reasons, Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported on Thursday morning.
According to Israeli reports, Saar cited his cancer illness as the reason for his early resignation.
The head of the Research Division had been serving in the position since October 2020, however, the start of his third year was marked with arguably the worst Israeli intelligence and military "catastrophe". Israeli authorities have pushed the majority of the blame for the failure to intercept the events of October 7, 2023, on intelligence officials. Saar himself previously expressed his readiness to relinquish his duties once the Israeli war on Gaza concluded, and his reported resignation has hastened the process.
