Amnesty International confirms that Israeli occupation forces are using starvation of civilians as a war tactic in Gaza, calling for an end to military support for the occupation and sanctions against its officials.
The international organization has accused the Israeli Occupation Forces of using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza, citing testimonies from Palestinian civilians that reveal a "deadly, militarized aid system operating alongside forced displacement and relentless bombardment."
It stated that "Israel" has turned Palestinians' pleas for aid into a "deadly hunger trap," calling on the international community to pressure the occupation to immediately lift the blockade and halt the genocide. Amnesty additionally demanded an end to military support for "Israel" and sanctions against its officials, emphasizing the critical need for full cooperation with the International Criminal Court.
38 aid seekers killed in Gaza
Meanwhile, medical sources in Gaza reported on Thursday that 78 people were killed in ongoing Israeli airstrikes, including 38 who were waiting for humanitarian aid deliveries.
Earlier on Thursday, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, told Al Mayadeen that around 100 people remain missing after they went to try to obtain aid supplies and never returned.
Gaza's hospitals have documented 118 fatalities and 581 injuries in the last 24 hours resulting from "Israel's" continuing military offensive, while rescue teams and civil defense crews struggle to access numerous casualties still buried under debris or stranded in open areas because of the unrelenting airstrikes.
Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians gathering at purported aid distribution points, killing 12 civilians and wounding 49 others, bringing the total death toll from such attacks on aid seekers to 652, with more than 4,537 injured since these incidents began.
The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has now reached 57,130 killed since Israel launched its military offensive on October 7, 2023, with 135,173 wounded, including 6,572 fatalities and 23,132 injuries recorded since March 18, 2025, alone, as the Israeli military has significantly escalated its attacks in recent months.
