'Israel' violates ceasefire: Troop infiltration, strikes in S. Lebanon
"Israel" continues to violate the ceasefire agreement reached with Lebanon, moving troops and vehicles within Lebanese towns and villages and carrying out several airstrikes.
Israeli occupation forces infiltrated various areas and villages in South Lebanon on Sunday, violating the ceasefire agreement in place since November 27.
In the latest violation, an Israeli drone targeted the outskirts of the town of Jbal al-Butm in southern Lebanon, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in southern Lebanon reported.
Earlier, an Israeli Merkava tank also advanced toward the northern areas of the town of Maroun al-Ras, our correspondent said.
In a related development, an Israeli infantry unit raided homes on the northern outskirts of Maroun al-Ras, near Bint Jbeil, conducting a sweeping operation with machine gun fire.
An Israeli force also advanced toward the town of al-Majidiya, moving toward the Wadi Khansa junction and the outskirts of the al-Mari plain, under the surveillance of a military drone.
Additionally, an Israeli military unit infiltrated the western outskirts of the town of al-Dhayrah, blowing up a house before withdrawing toward the southern outskirts of the town.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent further reported that Israeli occupation vehicles involved in the incursion fired shells at civilian homes in the town of Ayta al-Shaab.
Lebanon lodges UNSC complaint against 'Israel' over ongoing violations
Lebanon has already lodged a formal complaint with the UN Security Council regarding "Israel's" continued acts of aggression against agricultural lands and livestock in the country’s southern regions, which violate the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, which ended the Israeli war on the country.
In a statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants detailed the major breaches, warning that these actions constitute clear violations of international law and directly threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty and food security.
The ministry emphasized that the Israeli attacks have inflicted extensive damage on agricultural roads and infrastructure in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of the "Seedling Cultivation" project in the Wadi al-Hujayr region supported by the World Food Program and the European Union.
Following consultations and coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign instructed Lebanon’s diplomatic mission in New York to file a complaint with the Security Council against "Israel".
The ministry called on the Security Council to take urgent measures to halt these Israeli attacks, safeguard the rights of farmers and fishermen in the affected areas, and protect their livelihoods.
It also demanded that "Israel" be held accountable for its actions and required to provide compensation for the damages inflicted on Lebanon’s agricultural sector and beyond.
Moreover, Lebanon urged Security Council members, particularly those involved in brokering the ceasefire, to adopt a firm and unequivocal stance against "Israel's" recurring violations of the agreement.
