Al-Mashat: US Distorting Ansar Allah's Views on Peace
The Head of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Mahdi al-Mashat, says that the US, France and UK are attempting to distort the Ansar Allah's views on putting an end to the war.
Ansar Allah has reiterated its readiness for peace in Yemen, accusing the United States of deception and of distorting their views on ending the 7-year-long war in the Arab world's poorest country.
The head of the movement's Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, said in a speech celebrating the 54th anniversary of Yemen's independence from Britain, which was broadcast by Al-Masirah, that they assert their willingness to stop defensive military actions as soon as aggression comes to an end, the siege is lifted, and practical commitments are made to end the occupation and make amends for the consequences of the war.
Al-Mashat declared that many schemes are afoot, with the intent of distorting the Ansar Allah's stances vis-a-vis peace. The schemes, he said, are led by Washington and the UK; France and other countries are also complicit.
He also advised the world, the Saudi-led aggression, in particular, to be more realistic and to think ahead regarding the consequences of their escalation, and the dangers of miscalculating [the Ansar Allah's capabilities].
Al-Mashat called for them to listen to Sanaa's good intentions, objective and balanced outlook, which will allow for peace, and for everyone's interests to be secured.
Sharaf to Al Mayadeen: Escalation Result of Failure of Saudi's Pressures on Sanaa
The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Sanaa, Hisham Sharaf, explained to Al Mayadeen that "the current escalation in a number of fronts comes because the Saudi coalition has been convinced that it had failed in its attempts to pressure Sanaa."
Sharaf said that "the repeated bombings of the same places since the beginning of the aggression till now translate to helplessness," noting that "the policy of pressure has failed in many countries from Vietnam to other places."
Sharaf commented on the arrest of US embassy employees, explaining that "the relevant security authorities are the ones dealing with this issue, which should not be given more importance than it deserves."
He then stressed that "we did not kill or insult anyone's dignity, and if anything happens, we would discuss it among us. They should not take it as an excuse for further escalation."
He continued, "Our problem with some countries is that are either trying to impose their viewpoint or dictate it by telling us that they follow up on what is happening," stressing that "there are paradoxes with the US side, which we are ready to discuss to avoid any escalations, but on the other hand, we are and will continue to follow the diplomacy of steadfastness and attack that preserve Yemen’s dignity."
