The new Al Mayadeen Plus channel in Iraq, September 21, 2025 (Al Mayadeen)
Al Mayadeen Plus was launched today as part of Al Mayadeen Media Network, dedicated to covering Iraqi affairs, opening with coverage of the upcoming Iraqi legislative elections and expanding to broader coverage afterward.
Our network chose to launch its new channel under the umbrella of its parent network, reflecting the importance it has attached to Iraq since its inception. The choice aligns with Al Mayadeen's pan-Arab identity and is based on Iraq's status as a crucial Arab and regional center of gravity, boasting an ongoing, organized political process, media freedom and pluralism, and a profound literary, intellectual, and cultural depth.
Al Mayadeen Plus will operate on its own dedicated frequency and across its various affiliated platforms, which feature general content, maintaining a physical presence in the field across all of Iraq's diverse regions, governorates, and cities, ensuring comprehensive coverage without any form of discrimination, division, or bias toward any particular party.
Iraq: A choice and a decision
Due to the significance and seriousness of the electoral process that Baghdad is now embarking upon, Al Mayadeen has selected "Iraq: A Choice and A Decision" as a title for its comprehensive news coverage.
The coverage will be secured by a team sent from the network's main headquarters to Iraq, working in conjunction with a local Iraqi team based in Baghdad, as well as with correspondents deployed across various governorates and major cities, supplemented by a widespread presence of reporters throughout the country.
Al Maydeen Plus' schedule
The new channel will launch on Sunday with a five-hour daily broadcast, which is intended to gradually expand to twelve hours a day.
It will feature dedicated segments for electoral news, discussions, and analyses. Its initial broadcast schedule, based on Baghdad time, will follow the format outlined below for its first days of operation, before it evolves and develops in line with the progression of its broadcast and coverage efforts.
