Amir-Abdollahian: Iran always favors peace and stability in Iraq
During his meeting with the former Iraqi Prime Minister, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian confirmed his country's determination to fortify its relations with Iraq.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian affirmed that Tehran always welcomes peace and stability in Iraq.
During his meeting with former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi in the Iranian capital on Tuesday, Amir-Abdollahian described Iran and Iraq as "sustainable friends and brothers."
The Iranian minister stressed that the two countries’ political, economic, and cultural relations must expand more than ever before.
Amir-Abdollahian praised the actions of Abdul Mahdi's former government regarding initiatives to strengthen and develop bilateral ties and confirmed Iran's determination to fortify its relations with Iraq.
"Iran always favors peace and stability in Iraq, and its constructive role in regional interactions, respecting the Iraqi people’s political decisions," he said.
For his part, Abdul Mahdi referred, during the meeting, to "the countless commonalities between Iran and Iraq" in various fields, and considered them "a great capital at the service of evermore proximity between the two nations and governments."
