Amir-Abdollahian: Iran closely examining, assessing Biden's behavior
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian tweeted that the "purpose of negotiations is not for the sake of talking", but rather the achievement of tangible results on the basis of respect for mutual interests.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday that the White House is calling for negotiations with Iran "and claims to be ready to return to the JCPOA. Yet, it simultaneously imposes new sanctions on Iranian individuals and entities."
"Iran is closely examining Mr. Biden's behavior," he asserted.
The Foreign Minister tweeted that "the purpose of negotiations is not talking for the sake of talking but to achieve tangible results on the basis of respect for mutual interests. The P4+1 should be ready for negotiations based on mutual interests and rights."

According to Newsweek, US President Joe Biden and his administration must make concessions to Iran and "swallow their pride" to ensure the return of parties to the nuclear deal.
There have been recent attempts between Iran and world powers to set a date for the resumption of talks to revive the nuclear agreement in Vienna.
Amir-Abdollahian had revealed, during a meeting with the new Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri, that talks on reviving Iran's nuclear deal with the 4+1 Group "will resume soon."
Six rounds of talks were held in Vienna between Iran and the P4+1 to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, which former US President Donald Trump withdrew from 3 years ago and restored sanctions on Iran.
The talks took place between April and June but stopped shortly before the Iranian elections, and are set to be resumed soon.
