Ben-Gvir says Palestinian flag symbol of terrorism, orders removal
Israeli Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says waving the Palestinian flag is an act in support of terrorism.
Israeli Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on Sunday that he instructed occupation forces to remove Palestinian flags from public spaces.
Palestinian flags are removed by occupation police and soldiers under the pretext of their being "threat to public order."
The directive from Ben-Gvir, who heads an extremist party and was appointed Police Minister in Benjamin Netanyahu's new government has taken to racist measures against Palestinians.
Ben-Gvir's new decision follows the liberation last week of a long-imprisoned Palestinian prisoner, Karim Younis, who waved a Palestinian flag while receiving a hero's welcome in his village.
In a statement, Ben-Gvir, best known for calling for the killing of Palestinians, said that waving the Palestinian flag is an act in "support of terrorism."
"It cannot be that lawbreakers wave terrorist flags, incite and encourage terrorism, so I ordered the removal of flags supporting terrorism from the public space and to stop the incitement against 'Israel'," Ben-Gvir said.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported two days ago that Israeli occupation intelligence stormed the reception tent erected to welcome back freed Palestinian prisoner Karim Younis in the town of Aara in the '48 occupied territories.
Israeli media reported that Ben-Gvir spoke with the Israeli police commissioner and directed him to prevent any festive ceremonies celebrating the liberation of Younis.
