Berri urges committee to act regarding Israeli ceasefire violations
Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri calls for the ceasefire monitoring committee to act urgently, stop Israeli occupation violations, and ensure withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, on Monday, urged the committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement to immediately begin its work and compel "Israel" to halt its violations and withdraw from currently occupied Lebanese territories.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Berri's office said, "Contrary to media reports suggesting that Israel's actions since the ceasefire took effect are part of the agreement, the Israeli occupation forces' aggressive actions constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire terms."
The statement clarified that "the aggressive actions by the Israeli occupation forces represent a clear breach of the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect at 4:00 a.m. on November 27, 2024, and to which Lebanon has fully adhered."
Berri added, "We ask the technical committee formed to monitor the implementation of this agreement: where are they regarding these ongoing violations, which have now exceeded 54 breaches, while Lebanon and the Resistance remain fully committed to their obligations?"
He stressed that "the committee tasked with monitoring the agreement must urgently begin its duties, ensuring that Israel stops its violations and withdraws from the occupied territories before anything else."
The Israeli occupation continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon by targeting southern border villages and areas in the Bekaa-Hermel region.
Earlier this evening, Hezbollah fired rockets on Israeli sites in the occupied Kfar Chouba hills for the first time since the ceasefire, warning "Israel" against continuing its repeated violations.
'Israel' continues to insolently violate Lebanon ceasefire
In its latest breach, the Israeli occupation military carried out Monday a drone strike on a bulldozer operating near a Lebanese Army post in the village of Hosh al-Sayyed Ali, north of the Hermel district, wounding a Lebanese soldier.
The Lebanese Army announced on X that an Israeli drone targeted a bulldozer belonging to the army while it was conducting fortification work inside the military post of al-Abbara in the area of Hosh al-Sayyed Ali.
Later, the Lebanese General Directorate of State Security announced that an [Israeli] enemy drone targeted one of its members, Mahdi Khreis, in a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The drone struck Corporal Khreis with a guided missile while he was performing his national duty, resulting in his martyrdom, it added, calling the attack "a serious escalation and a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty."
In the South, the Israeli occupation forces fired bursts of machine guns toward homes in the town of al-Naqoura, coinciding with the flight of reconnaissance aircraft over villages in the Tyre district.
The occupation forces also launched four artillery shells toward Khiam, with one hitting a chalet in the area between Marj'youn Plain and Khiam, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA).
The Lebanese Health Ministry said one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Marjayoun near the border with occupied Palestine.
