Cuba's President slams UNSC 'hypocrisy', pledges support for Palestine
Miguel Diaz-Canel calls for an exceptional mobilization and gathering at Havana's Jose Marti Anti-Imperialist Tribune in support of Palestine.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called for an exceptional mobilization and gathering at Havana's Jose Marti Anti-Imperialist Tribune, located in front of the US Embassy in the capital.
In a video clip published on his account on X, Diaz-Canel affirmed that “Cuba will never be indifferent to crime and will join in the International Day in Support of the Palestinian People to demand an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.”
#Cuba, que jamás será indiferente ante el crimen, se suma a la jornada mundial de apoyo al pueblo palestino y exige que se ponga fin al genocidio israelí en #Gaza.

“Enough brutality, enough assaults, enough impunity, silence the weapons and hear the people speak,” he said, before adding that nothing justifies the serious violations of international law and international humanitarian law taking place in Gaza and the West Bank.
Amid calls for mobilization, Cuba’s President called for mass demonstrations for the sake of “peace alongside the people who are fighting for a better world.”
“Stop this imperialist hypocrisy that vetoes ceasefire resolutions at the UN Security Council,” Diaz-Canel tersely stated.
Yesterday, Diaz-Canel announced that Cuba “will join in the global mobilization campaigns on March 2 in support of Palestine.”
Always with Palestine
Cuba's support for Palestine, especially amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, is not new.
On Saturday, March 2, the International Assembly of Peoples called on Cubans to gather at Havana's Jose Marti Anti-Imperialist Tribune to join global mobilizations against the genocide perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.
"In all provinces, we will also take to the streets in solidarity with the sisterly people of Palestine," Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said, condemning the holocaust “Israel” seeks to provoke in Rafah.
In November 2023, Cuban youths also called for a pro-Palestine march, which garnered great popular support and the presence of high officials such as President Diaz-Canel.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel led a popular march of thousands of Cubans along the central Malecon street to express their support for the Palestinian cause and condemn the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
Invited by the Cuban Young Communist League, participants chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla took part in the march, as well as the Secretary-General of the Workers' Central Union of Cuba Ulises Guilarte and the Palestinian Ambassador to Cuba Akram Samhan.
The Cuban Interior Ministry said on X that 100,000 people took part in the hour-long march. It was the biggest of several such pro-Palestinian rallies held in Cuba since the Israeli aggression on Gaza started on October 7.
