BREAKING
Sheikh Qassem: Our supporters make up more than half of Lebanon's population, and all of these people are united under the banner of protecting Lebanon, its Resistance, its people, and its integrity.
Sheikh Qassem: There will be no phased handing in of our arms. [The Israelis] must first enact the agreement before we start talking about a defensive strategy.
Sheikh Qassem: Be brave in the face of foreign pressures, and we will be by your side in this stance.
Sheikh Qassem: Stripping us of our arms is like stripping us of our very soul, and this will prompt us to show them our might.
Sheikh Qassem: We will not abandon our arms, for they gave us dignity; we will not abandon our arms, for they protect us against our enemy.
Sheikh Qassem: The US efforts we are seeing are aimed at sabotaging Lebanon and constitute a call for sedition.
Sheikh Qassem: If you truly want to establish sovereignty and work for Lebanon’s interests, then stop the aggression.
Sheikh Qassem: The United States, which is meddling in Lebanon, is not trustworthy but rather poses a danger to it.
Sheikh Qassem: The United States is preventing the weapons that protect the homeland.
Sheikh Qassem: The government’s latest decision [on the disarmament of the Resistance] is non-charter-based, and if the government continues down this path, it is not faithful to Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Iran’s Fars News Agency revealed on Sunday details around what it described as an attempted Israeli assassination targeting the highest levels of Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, just days after "Israel" launched its military aggression against Iran.

According to the report, the strike targeted a session of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, attended by all three top officials and other senior figures. The meeting was held on the morning of Monday, June 16, in the underground levels of a secured government building in western Tehran, three days after the onset of the Israeli assault.

The report details that the attempted assassination mirrored the method reportedly used in the bid to kill martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon. According to the details, the operation involved launching six missiles at the building with the intent to seal all entrances and exits, limiting airflow and escape routes.

According to Fars, following the explosions, electricity on the targeted floor was cut off; however, Iranian officials escaped through a pre-designated emergency exit. Pezeshkian and several others reportedly sustained minor foot injuries during the evacuation.

Investigation launched amid insider leak concerns

Due to the precision of the attack, Iranian authorities have opened an investigation to determine whether internal information may have been leaked to "Israel." The news agency emphasized that the attempted assassination underscores "Israel’s" willingness to "resort to any means, including targeting national leaders, to undermine Iran’s security."

This came shortly after a top aide in the Iranian presidency confirmed that the Israeli occupation attempted to assassinate Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a high-level military meeting amid the recent Israeli war on Iran.

In an exclusive statement to Al Mayadeen on Thursday, presidential advisor Sayyed Mehdi Tabatabaei said the Israeli entity targeted a gathering of political and military leaders, including President Pezeshkian, in what he described as a large-scale explosion. The incident occurred during the most intense phase of the Israeli aggression in June.

Furthermore, Sayyed Tabatabaei revealed that during the final days of the war, regional countries conveyed messages from both the United States and the Israeli regime requesting a ceasefire.

President Pezeshkian also acknowledged the incident in an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson, stating that he survived an assassination attempt during the Israeli assault.
