A former senior official in the Shin Bet, Ilan Segev, has affirmed that the Palestinian resistance in Gaza will not lay down its arms, emphasizing the need to stop selling illusions to the Israeli public regarding any potential surrender on the Palestinian side.
Segev: Stop selling illusions to the Israeli public
Speaking in an interview with the Israeli channel Kan 11, Segev stated that "Hamas will not abandon its arms and will not raise the white flag, even after 100 years." He warned that even if only "three Hamas members remain, they will form a cell and launch an attack."
Segev criticized the discourse surrounding the disarmament of Hamas, urging, "Let’s stop selling nonsense and illusions to the public." His comments reflect growing skepticism within Israeli circles about the feasibility of dismantling the Palestinian resistance.
Segev also addressed the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that the time has come to "everything" in exchange for the release of all Israeli captives held by Palestinian factions.
Israeli captives are starving in Gaza
The escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza has severely affected not only its residents but also the Israeli captives held by Palestinian resistance factions. The Al-Qassam Brigades recently released a video showing a captive in a visibly emaciated state, underscoring the severe famine conditions and the impact of the ongoing siege. The captive was identified by Israeli media as Evyatar David.

Likewise, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad shared a final message from captive Rom Barslavski, in which he described the critical deterioration of health and widespread starvation among captives. The message, believed to be his last before losing contact, painted a grim picture of survival amid complete blockade and intensifying aggression.
Hamas' resolve despite heavy losses
Despite the ongoing military operations, Hamas remains committed to its armed struggle. Segev's remarks underscore the group's resilience and long-term commitment to resisting the occupation.
Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance forces continue to launch operations and ambushes against the occupation army along various fronts in the Gaza Strip, inflicting casualties and hindering the progress of its incursions.
