Haniyeh in Tehran
Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei welcomed the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Resistance, Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and the accompanying delegation in Tehran, according to a statement on Sayyed Khamenei's website.
The Iranian leader praised the "unique resistance of the Palestinian forces" against the "crimes and brutalities of the Zionist regime carried out with the full support of the West," stressing that the Palestinians' historical patience honored Islam and made the Palestinian cause the first cause of the world.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to support the cause of Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza," Sayyed Khamenei said during the meeting.
Haniyeh, on his part, said that the patience and resistance of the people of Gaza and the Resistance forces during the last six months has caused the Zionist enemy to not achieve any of its strategic goals in the Gaza war.
He also hailed the efforts of the Iranian government and nation in supporting Palestine and the people of Gaza.
