Haniyeh meets with Sayyed Khamenei, Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran
According to Ismail Haniyeh, the Israeli occupation has failed to achieve its military objectives and is instead losing political and international support.
Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei welcomed the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Resistance, Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and the accompanying delegation in Tehran on Tuesday evening, according to a statement on Sayyed Khamenei's website.
The Iranian leader praised the "unique resistance of the Palestinian forces" against the "crimes and brutalities of the Zionist regime carried out with the full support of the West," stressing that the Palestinians' historical patience honored Islam and made the Palestinian cause the first cause of the world.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to support the cause of Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza," Sayyed Khamenei said during the meeting.
Haniyeh, on his part, said that the patience and resistance of the people of Gaza and the Resistance forces during the last six months has caused the Zionist enemy to not achieve any of its strategic goals in the Gaza war.
He also hailed the efforts of the Iranian government and nation in supporting Palestine and the people of Gaza.
The war on Gaza is a world war and the American ruling body is the main accomplice of the Zionists, Haniyeh added.
It is the second visit the Hamas leader has made to Tehran since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Haniyeh's last visit was in early November when he met Sayyed Khamenei, as well as other officials.
Haniyeh also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian earlier in the day.
UNSC resolution shows ‘unprecedented isolation’ of Zionist regime: Haniyeh
During a joint news conference with Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on Tuesday, Haniyeh stated that the UNSC resolution demanding a ceasefire showed that "the Israeli occupation is experiencing unprecedented political isolation," adding that the resolution is proof the US can no longer impose its will on the international community.
The UN Security Council on Monday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza five months into the Israeli war on the Strip.
With the US abstaining, the 14 other members voted in favor of the resolution, which was sponsored by the Security Council's 10 elected members.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield claimed that the US abstained due to the language of the text not including a condemnation of Hamas.
In reaction, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that he would not send a team to Washington after the US declined to veto, opting instead for an abstention.
Although the resolution was delayed and has certain flaws, Haniyeh believes it demonstrates the Palestinian people's unique resistance.
Hamas welcomed the resolution while saying it was ready to negotiate the release of captives in exchange for Palestinian detainees.
"We also affirm our readiness to engage in an immediate prisoner exchange process that leads to the release of prisoners on both sides," the Palestinian Resistance group added.
Despite paying significantly for its aggression in Gaza, the Zionist authority has failed to achieve its military objectives and is instead losing political and international support, he stated.
Haniyeh also expressed optimism that Muslims throughout the world will turn out in greater numbers for this year's al-Quds Day marches, which takes place on the last Friday of Ramadan.
Palestinian MFA warns against diluting UNSC resolution content
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against any attempts to dilute the content of the United Nations Security Council resolution adopted yesterday, emphasizing the necessary immediate implementation of the resolution and the adoption of binding mechanisms fully consistent with its text.
The Ministry viewed the international resolution as a suitable basis for achieving a permanent ceasefire and ending the war through political and diplomatic means, underscoring its binding nature and obligation to implement it.
Furthermore, the Ministry asserted that the Israeli occupation's fierce attack on the resolution is unjustified and serves no purpose other than the insistence of Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition on achieving their undisclosed malicious objectives through military means, prioritizing the logic of brute military force over reason, politics, and diplomatic efforts to complete the destruction of Gaza and exterminate all forms of life therein.
The Ministry pointed out that Netanyahu's declared war objectives are entirely contradictory and difficult to arrange in clear and explicit priorities without this inherent contradiction, explaining "Israel's" continued rejection of all international efforts to stop the war and ensure the protection of civilians and secure their basic humanitarian needs.
