From Beirut, Ghalibaf reiterates Iran's support for Lebanon
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament says he delivering a message on behalf of Iran's leader, government and people.
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, arrived in Beirut on Saturday morning amid an ongoing Israeli aggression on the country.
He is the second high-ranking Iranian official to visit Lebanon since the start of the aggression after Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Upon arriving in the Lebanese capital on a flight that he landed, Ghalibaf indicated that the purpose of his visit was to convey a message of solidarity and support from the Iranian leadership, government, and people to the Lebanese nation and its Resistance.
He said that his visit was at the invitation of his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, and that he is delivering a message from Iranian leader and leader of the Islamic Revolution Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
“We always stand by the Lebanese nation and government and will be at their service in difficulties," he affirmed.
Ghalibaf visited the Basta neighborhood in cental Beirut, where the Israeli occupation forces carried out an attack on residential buildings a couple of days ago, killing at least 22 people and injuring dozens others.

Later on Saturday, Ghalibaf is scheduled to leave Beirut for Geneva, Switzerland, where he will attend the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), taking place from October 13-17.
He underscored that during the IPU Assembly, he will represent the voices of the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon, fulfilling his responsibility to support the Palestinian and Lebanese nations.
This comes amid an ongoing Israeli aggression across Lebanon, especially the country's southern and eastern regions, as well as Beirut's Southern Suburb, which has so far killed more than 1,200 people and displaced millions since September 23.
