Hamas: Israeli approach killed captives, ceasefire demands unchanged
Hamas accuses Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being directly responsible for the deaths of Palestinian captives and reiterates that a ceasefire is the only option.
Hamas emphasized that the Israeli occupation military's acknowledgment of its responsibility for the deaths of six captives confirms the accuracy of the Palestinian Resistance's account of events and exposes the Israeli occupation's narrative as false, holding it accountable for the consequences that unfolded.
The movement pointed out that the killing of more Israeli captives by the Israeli occupation forces further proves the failure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s theory of freeing captives through force, emphasizing that military pressure does not free captives, it only kills them.
Hamas held Netanyahu directly responsible for the deaths of dozens of captives due to his failure to reach a deal and reiterated that "the only solution was to end the aggression, withdraw the Israeli occupation forces, and proceed with a prisoner exchange deal."
An Israeli occupation military investigation has hinted at the potential responsibility of its forces for the killing of six Palestinian prisoners in an airstrike on a site in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation forces earlier mentioned that, on August 20, it found the bodies of six captives and the bodies of six Palestinian Resistance fighters in a tunnel in the vicinity of the area targeted in February.
According to the results of the investigation, which were published Wednesday, the bodies of the six captives showed signs of gunshot wounds, with the lifeless bodies of the Resistance fighters who had been supervising, lying nearby.
The investigation also clarified that the Israeli air force conducted a "precise" airstrike on February 14 against infrastructure in Khan Younis, targeting alleged Hamas leaders. The findings concluded that there is a strong possibility that the captives' deaths were caused by this airstrike, which occurred near their location.
Hamas had previously stressed that US President-elect Donald Trump should direct his message—threatening "serious consequences" in the Middle East if captives in Gaza are not released by January 20—to Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Bassem Naeem, a member of Hamas' political bureau, pointed out that Netanyahu has sabotaged all attempts to reach a deal that would end the war and secure a prisoner exchange agreement.
Hamas confirms 33 Israeli captives killed in Israeli bombing of Gaza
Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas announced that 33 Israeli captives held by the Palestinian Resistance have been killed, with some reportedly disappearing. Hamas attributed the deaths to the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and what it described as his "fascist army."
Hamas issued a warning to "Israel", stating, "By continuing your reckless war, you may lose your prisoners forever," and added, "Do what you must before it’s too late."
The movement included a video clip with its message, detailing the Israeli attacks that led to the killing and disappearance of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Hamas' military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, released a video showing an Israeli captive it had captured on October 7, 2023.
In the video, Israeli captive Idan Alexander sent a message to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, criticizing him for neglecting the captives.
Alexander said, "I heard you speaking to the Israeli public and on the news, and it frustrates me. I heard you're offering 5 million dollars to anyone who returns the prisoners alive."
He added, "The prime minister is supposed to protect his citizens and soldiers, and you have neglected us."
