The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) strongly condemned the Israeli occupation army's recent airdrop of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, describing it as a superficial and misleading gesture aimed at repairing the occupation’s global image amid ongoing aggression.

In a press release issued on Sunday, Hamas dismissed the airdrop effort as a "formal trick" designed to whitewash the image of the "Nazi occupation" before the world. The movement stated that such actions fall far short of the required humanitarian response to the catastrophic conditions in Gaza.

Hamas asserted that the Israeli occupation is employing the airdrop approach to deflect international pressure to lift the siege. According to the movement, so-called humanitarian corridors are being used not to alleviate suffering but to assert control over aid distribution.

"The occupation's plan for airdrops and control of the corridors represents a blatant policy to manage starvation, not end it, and to establish forced facts on the ground under the fire of bombing and hunger," the statement read.

Starvation strategy and siege policy under fire

The movement emphasized that the only way to end the starvation crisis in Gaza is through a complete cessation of aggression and the full, permanent reopening of land crossings to ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, under United Nations-approved mechanisms.

Hamas stated that the occupation’s restrictive approach, described as "inhumane mechanisms to control aid", has resulted in the martyrdom of over 1,000 Palestinians and the injury of approximately 6,000 others, labeling it a "blatant war crime."

The Resistance movement called for continued global pressure, both official and popular, to dismantle the blockade on the Gaza Strip and put an end to what it described as the deliberate crime of starvation. It also cautioned against falling for what it called the "misleading propaganda of the fascist occupation government."

Aid airdrops insufficient for Gaza’s needs

The statement came following an airdrop operation carried out by the Israeli occupation army in under the coordination of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

Despite the move, the humanitarian response remains drastically inadequate.

According to the government media office in Gaza, the Strip requires 600 aid trucks per day and at least 250,000 cartons of infant formula per month to meet minimal needs. Additionally, officials reiterated that the radical solution is the immediate and full opening of all crossings and a complete end to the ongoing blockade.

Earlier today, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported that the Israeli occupation army announced a "tactical suspension" of military actions in certain areas of the Gaza Strip. The move, described as "temporary and tactical", will last for 10 hours, starting at 10:00 am and ending at 8:00 pm (local time).

Our correspondent stated, "Trucks loaded with flour are heading from the Rafah crossing to the Karem Abu Salem crossing, hoping to enter the Gaza Strip."

According to the occupation army’s statement, the pause is part of what it described as measures to "improve the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip."

The temporary pause is allegedly aimed at enabling aid trucks, including those carrying flour, to reach affected areas. Movement is taking place between Rafah crossing and Kerem Shalom crossing, two critical access points for humanitarian supplies entering Gaza.
