Haniyeh, al-Nakhalah meet with Sayyed Khamenei, discuss developments
Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh and Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Ziad al-Nakhalah meet with Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
The leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, received on Tuesday the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement Ziad al-Nakhalah.
Haniyeh and al-Nakhalah are visiting Iran to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Haniyeh thanks Pezeshkian for his country's support for the Palestinian cause
Haniyeh met with Pezeshkian earlier today to provide an update on the latest political and field developments concerning the Israeli war on Gaza.
According to Hamas, Haniyeh congratulated Pezeshkian on his inauguration as president and expressed heartfelt gratitude for Iran's unwavering and honorable support of the Palestinian people's resilience and steadfastness.
For his part, Pezeshkian expressed his pleasure in receiving the Hamas delegation, reaffirming his country's steadfast support for the Palestinian people under the leadership of Sayyed Khamenei. Pezeshkian conveyed his wishes for "victory for the Palestinian people and their Resistance in their righteous struggle against Israeli aggression."
Pezeshkian: Supporting the Axis of Resistance
Earlier on Monday, Pezeshkian received Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem and Palestinian Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah.
During his meeting with Sheikh Qassem, Pezeshkian stressed that supporting the Axis of Resistance is "a legitimate duty and one of Iran's basic policies," adding that strengthening relations with Islamic countries is among his government's priorities.
Today, Tuesday, the Iranian president's swearing-in ceremony will take place with the participation of 70 foreign delegations. Attendees will include senior officials from various countries and international organizations, as well as leaders of the Axis of Resistance from Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq.
10 presidents will lead their countries' delegations to Tehran to participate in the ceremonies. Additionally, 15 delegations will be led by parliament speakers, 16 delegations by assistants to presidents, deputy prime ministers, and deputy parliament speakers, 17 delegations by representatives of secretaries-general and ambassadors, and 12 delegations by ambassadors.
