Pezeshkian: Supporting the Axis of Resistance legitimate duty of Iran
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian affirms the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for Resistance movements and praises the role of Resistance in Lebanon and Palestine during his meeting with Sheikh Naim Qassem, deputy secretary-general of Hezbollah, and Ziad al-Nakhalah, secretary-general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem and Palestinian Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhaleh, who are visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Iranian president-elect.
During his meeting with Sheikh Qassem, Pezeshkian stressed that supporting the Axis of Resistance is "a legitimate duty and one of Iran's basic policies," adding that strengthening relations with Islamic countries is among his government's priorities.
He praised Hezbollah's "valiant resistance to the aggression of the Zionist entity."
Pezeshkian also condemned the Israeli occupation's crimes against the Palestinians, "which are carried out with the support of the US", calling them "a stain on the forehead of those who claim to protect human rights."
The Iranian President-elect called on Muslim countries to unite, which, if done, "the Zionist entity would not dare to commit the horrible crimes."
For his part, Sheikh Qassem emphasized that the defeat of the Israeli occupation would not have been possible without the support of the Islamic Republic, stressing that as a result of the Resistance of the valiant people of Gaza, the occupation would suffer another heavy defeat.
Furthermore, Sheikh Qassem thanked the Iranian president's response to Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's letter, which "reflects the brotherhood between the two sides." He stressed that the occupation would not be able to achieve any of its goals despite "the great crimes it has committed and the losses it has inflicted on the Gaza Strip."
Pezeshkian meets al-Nakhaleh: Nothing will deter us
During his meeting with al-Nakhaleh, the Iranian president emphasized that this meeting sends an important message to those who seek to distance Iran from the Resistance movements.
He stressed that Iran's position on the Palestinian issue and its support for the liberation of al-Quds will not change through a change of governments, adding that "nothing will deter us from continuing to support the resistance."
He stressed that Iran will exert more efforts to achieve unity and harmony among Islamic countries "to put pressure on the Zionist entity and stop its crimes."
Al-Nakhaleh praised the Iranian president's meeting with Resistance leaders during his first days as president of the Islamic Republic, stressing that these meetings "carried important messages for the region and the world."
The PIJ leader then stressed that the Palestinian people will never forget Iran's support, he said, adding that its outspoken stance plays "a prominent role in strengthening the morale of the Palestinian people's steadfastness in this battle."
Moreover, he noted that the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are at the "forefront of the confrontation with the authoritarian international system and its agents in the region."
Al-Nakhala condemned the blockage of all routes to deliver food and medicine to the Palestinian people while noting that all routes remain open for supplying weapons to the occupation. He reaffirmed that "the resilience of the Palestinian resistance surpasses all expectations."
President Masoud Pezeshkian's swearing-in ceremony will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Islamic Consultative Assembly. The event will be attended by members of parliament, members of the Guardian Council, and the head of the judiciary of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, with participation from over 70 foreign delegations from various countries, according to Alireza Sharifi, executive deputy of the Parliament.
