Sheikh Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, delivers eulogy during Sayyed Haitham Tabatabai's funeral, on November 24, 2025 (Al Mayadeen).

A massive funeral was held in Beirut’s Southern Suburb for martyred Hezbollah commander Haitham al-Tabatabai, known as Sayyed Abou Ali, and his comrades who were martyred alongside him in Sunday's Israeli airstrike.

The ceremony witnessed enormous participation from Resistance supporters and was marked by a eulogy delivered by Hezbollah Executive Council head Sheikh Ali Daamoush.

In his address, Sheikh Daamoush paid tribute to the commander and his comrades, stating, "With honor and pride, we bid farewell to great commander Haitham al-Tabatabai and his comrades, martyrs for Lebanon and its people."

Sheikh Daamoush described al-Tabatabai as a prominent commander who played a central role in all confrontations. He emphasized that al-Tabatabai was one of the key figures behind major resistance achievements, referring to him as "one of the architects of liberation and victory."

According to Daamoush, the late commander was among the highest-ranking leaders to have directed the People of Might battle with courage and effectiveness.

He added that Tabatabai had received multiple commendations from the martyred Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in recognition of his battlefield leadership and contributions.

Resistance will not be undermined

Commenting on al-Tabatabai's assassination, Daamoush said the goal was to destabilize the Resistance and force it to retreat from its positions. However, he insisted that the attempt would fail, stating that such acts only strengthen the resistance’s resolve.

He further affirmed that al-Tabatabai’s martyrdom would not hinder the continuation of his work and plans, noting that Hezbollah has "men capable of assuming responsibilities, regardless of the sacrifices."

Daamoush reiterated that while "Israel" believes the assassination of leaders could weaken Hezbollah, the group instead becomes stronger through its martyrs.

Position on ceasefire, national duties

Sheikh Daamoush also addressed the broader political context, saying Hezbollah is not concerned with any proposals as long as "Israel" fails to comply with the ceasefire. He stressed that it is the state’s duty to protect its citizens and sovereignty, urging the Lebanese government to adopt plans to that end and to reject foreign pressures and diktats.

He also criticized the government’s performance, asserting that the concessions made so far had produced no tangible results.

He reaffirmed Hezbollah’s commitment to its mission, pledging to continue the path of the martyrs and remain on the field until all objectives are fulfilled.
